Keyboard Lessons

Levels Taught: Beginner, Intermediate

I have an full size electric piano that we can work from and ask that you have a keyboard of any description at home. We usually follow the Alfred's Basic Piano books which I have taught from for some years and prove to be successful. However, if there is something else the student would like to learn we can veer off the path. I want to keep it as interesting and fun as possible! We can play some blues, rock and jazzy stuff as well. We will also cover some theory. The keyboard is great place to start for primary school kids.

Silas first learnt the piano aged seven then moved onto percussion and guitar in his high school years. He has played throughout London and Melbourne for over 20 years and has over 10 years teaching experience, including many primary schools.

Silas’ goal is to not only take the student through the standard and necessary procedures of music technique and theory but to also make the experience enjoyable and fun. To do this, he can digress off the standard path (if requested) by asking the student what they want to do, no matter how far-fetched it may seem.

Silas graduated from the London Academy of Performing Arts in 1998 with a graduate in classical acting which included singing. He also studied (and passed in flying colours!) classical guitar in year 12. He loves all music and his own late guitar teacher once described him as a "Beatlologist".
