Classical Voice Lessons
In these lessons students will work through specific exercises based on technique aiming to gain a physiological understanding of the voice to improve tone, breath, intonation and volume. This technique is then put into action as students work through a diverse range of classical repertoire from both Australian art music as well as international work. Students will learn to sing in other languages, such as Italian, French or German and learn how to put intention, truth and meaning into the classical work for performance benefit.
I grew up singing with the Sydney Children's Choir, the premium art choir in Australia, producing the highest calibre of classical choristers in the country. I toured with the group to Europe, performing at Westminster Abbey and Notre Dame and was part of the children's ensemble for numerous operas with Opera Australia, inculding Carmina Burana and Jundamarra.
I have completed Grades 6-8 Trinity Exams in Classical Voice with High Distinctions. I completed my Music 2 and Music Extension with a Band 6 in Vocal Performance, for which I performed a number of classical pieces. I have completed Grades 4 in both Musicianship and Music Craft as well as completing intense training over 3 years in sight singing. I trained myself with the renowned Peter Bodnar and have also worked with Jennifer Peers and Gabrielle Fisher.

Hi! My name is Annelise and I would love to teach you or your kids to sing. I recently played Sandy in the National Tour of Grease the Musical. I have a Bachelor of Musical Theatre and have completed my AMEB singing, piano and musicianship exams. I have completed the Vocalab Vocal Educator Toolkit course and have my Mental Health First Aid. I teach in person in Sydney or online. Online lessons are also an excellent and convenient way to learn a skill, stick with it and have fun!
A bit more about me:
Annelise is a world class trained musical theatre performer with training from Queensland Conservatorium, LA's Beverly Hills Playhouse Acting studios and Sydney's prestigious Brent Street. Annelise recently performed as Sandy in Grease at QPAC, Sophie in Mamma Mia at the Events Centre and the Soprano in The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols Quartet broadcast nationally on Channel 9. Annelise has been teaching for 4 years.
Annelise has completed the Grade 8 AMEB Musical Theatre Vocal Exam as well as Grades 6-8 of the Trinity Classical Vocal Exams with high distinctions.
She has been playing the piano since the age of 5 and completed Grade 4 Musicianship and Music Craft. Annelise achieved a Band 6 in HSC Music 2 and Music Extension with Vocal Performance. She trained weekly with the highly respected and renowned, Peter Bodnar for 5 years and then with the wonderful Joel Curtis.
As a child Annelise was part of the Sydney Children's Choir, touring with the group to Europe, performing as the children's ensemble in operas at the Sydney Opera House and singing at numerous VIP and televised events, making her highly aware of the needs children have when it comes to singing. In the past she has worked as a children's entertainer for 'Fairy and the Frog', which has equipped her with the skills and knowledge to work with kids.
When it comes to singing, Annelise strongly believes in the importance of balancing technique, musicality and truth/performance. She has obtained the acting skills required to pass on this understanding of performance to my students. In 2017, Annelise won the international Starnow scholarship for the Hollywood Immersive, out of 12, 911 people, which sent her to LA for training at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Through lessons with Annelise, you will gain an understanding of both technical teachings as well as learning how to 'tell a story'.
I would love to help you along this journey, if you are interested please do get in touch and I would be happy to talk more about lessons, my background or to answer any questions you may have!
