Neacail McMillan is an active and experienced Meanjin (Brisbane)-based musician who leads various projects and supports a wide array of fellow artists.

Having formally studied orchestral percussion since 2011, Neacail’s education includes AMEB and Trinity examinations as well as a Bachelor of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. This comprehensive training has afforded him opportunities to collaborate with various professional and community ensembles, including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Q, Brisbane Symphony Orchestra, and Queensland Youth Orchestras.

Neacail’s musicianship extends far beyond classical contexts. As an active member of Kansha Sessions, River City Jazz Orchestra, and Brisbane Conduction Orchestra, he relishes improvised music and composition across a spectrum of styles including Jazz, Country, and Experimentalism. The diverse musical traditions he has immersed himself in translate directly to his versatility as a multi-instrumentalist and tutor, underpinned by a deep understanding of Classical, Jazz, and Modern music theory.
