Hi there!
My name is Troy and I have been playing instruments for over 20 years, for my own enjoyment, creative expression, growth and sharing with others. They have helped me many times to overcome obstacles and manage the stresses of the world. I have also run large sound healing events to support people to relax and de-stress.

My tools include:
- Didgeridoo
- Acoustic Guitar
- Native American Flute
- Tin Whistle (Ireland)
- South American Flutes (Quena)
- Shakuhachi (Japanese Flute)
- Side Blown Bamboo Flutes

I generally tend to teach people who are interested in self healing and being more happy in their lives and have training in techniques to support people to let go of stress and regulate their nervous system.

In fact, learning an instrument is a powerful tool for nervous system regulation, especially breath instruments. The management and control of the breathing mechanism allows you to manage your physiology and stress levels through the Vagus Nerve and improving Vagal tone (that's a conversation for another time).

My personal philosophy and style is aimed to offer a supportive space tailored to each person.

For example, someone who is confident and already plays 3 instruments, will most likely respond well to being challenged & taken quickly through the learning process.

Someone who was shamed at school for playing poorly in music try outs and hasn't touched music in 20 years will require a lot more "gentle space," to gradually develop confidence and belief in themselves.

I always challenge students as much as possible, given their history with self confidence and past musical experience and aim to help them become confident by:

- Checking their instruments are suitable for learning on (Dispelling self doubt borne out of playing an unsuitable or defective instrument)
- Giving students space to learn and grow at a speed that feels enjoyable to them,
- Giving students exercises and resources that ensure they have the right information and the right practice routines.
- Offering ongoing support through regular lessons, or shorter video check in's between longer lessons to ensure momentum and correct practice is continued.

Adult Learners
I teach a lot of adult learners by video lesson, who lead busy lives, however are committed to actively learning and growing their musical expression.

A common set-up for these students is a fortnightly lesson, with a short check in (message, video, phone call) in the off week to ensure they are moving forward. This check in is not required once the student has the confidence to manage their own practice and process.

Youth / Children Learners
Are also welcome and I have taught at a school before which catered for 6-17 year olds.

Once a week is best for children to ensure correct practice until confidence and enjoyment and correct technique has taken hold.

I hold a relevant police check and blue card to be doing this work.
