Hello, and a warm welcome to my teaching profile!
My name is Adrian and I am a 36 year old brass musician, conductor and educator with 18 years of teaching experience. I’m a graduate of the ANU School of Music (B.MUS - Trumpet Performance) and have studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Over the years I have studied with various members and ex-members of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and other leading players throughout Australia.
Since 2006, I have taught all levels of brass (trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium/baritone & tuba) to primary, secondary and adult students individually and within a group setting. I have taught both face-to-face and online with great success and have guided many students through AMEB examinations with outstanding results.
Over the years, I have secured many teaching positions at leading private schools throughout NSW, QLD & ACT including Loreto Kirribilli (NSW), St. Aloysius College (NSW), St. Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School (QLD), St. Edmund’s College (ACT). I have also been invited to teach pre-tertiary trumpet at the ANU School of Music (ACT).
I love sharing my love of music with students of all ages and would describe my teaching style as versatile. Differing personalities, learning styles, musical goals and backgrounds call for a flexible approach to teaching. Fellow colleagues and parents have often described me as an engaging and nurturing teacher. I pride myself on being sensitive to the needs and unique goals of my students. I approach lessons in a positive and encouraging manner and regard myself as a warm, friendly and approachable teacher. I have excellent rapport with my students and often have past students from previous schools reach out to ask if they can continue tuition with me privately.
**I am currently offering online brass lessons to students Australia-wide and local lessons in Sinnamon Park, QLD.**
Whether you or your child would like to learn for leisure or take part in exams, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions and/or to organise an introductory lesson! I would love to hear from you! :)
✅STUDENT/PARENT TESTIMONIALS✅
“Adrian is so patient and encouraging with my beginner trombone player. In a few short weeks he has increased his self-confidence with his instrument and achieving great progress musically. Adrian has a lovely reassuring manner and has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. His tuition fees are more than reasonable. A happy trombone player and his mum!”
Deanne W. – VIC – (online trombone lessons)
“Adrian is passionate about teaching trumpet. My son was struggling with learning trumpet through school but with Adrian he has found a new enjoyment for playing… getting him to practice is no longer a fight!”
Krista W. – QLD (face to face trumpet lessons)
“Adrian is one of the best music teachers I have ever come across. Firstly, he is super talented and absolutely has the trumpeting know-how, but on top of that is the one of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Starting a new instrument can be frightening, it certainly was for me; however, Adrian has gone above and beyond to make me feel comfortable in my mistakes and has tapered his lessons so that I truly feel he is selecting pieces and styles that I will enjoy. He is perfectly communicative and completely generous with his time and efforts. I feel pretty lucky...”
Brielle D. – NSW (online trumpet lessons)
“My child just started the lesson with Adrian, but we already know he is a very friendly and warm-hearted teacher! He provides the tailored lesson for my child and helps her to develop the correct technique and playing habits which we are much appreciated. He is an instructor who is really committed to bringing out the best in the student and making sure the achievement of their goal. I see my child growing in confidence in her music abilities. I would highly recommend Adrian to all our friends interested in music.”
Cindy W. – QLD (face-to-face trumpet lessons)
“Adrian is an exceptionally kind and professional trumpet teacher. Our son was in trouble preparing for his upcoming AMEB exam when we found Adrian. Within a few lessons, we know our son has regained his confidence not only in his exam preparation but also in his trumpet performance. Adrian helps with all elements of music study. His trumpet sound is something you don't get to hear in public so often. The sound expresses Adrian's passion and dedication to his music. Adrian can teach our youngest child, who is far younger than school junior band students. We highly recommend Adrian to anyone who wants to learn music.”
Yuka L. – QLD (face-to-face trumpet lessons)
“Adrian is a fantastic teacher. He provides very specific goals and clear instruction and activities on how to best meet those goals, as well as being extremely encouraging. My playing has improved dramatically since I began studying with him. He brings an exceptionally enthusiastic and positive attitude to his teaching that helps maintain motivation and confidence.”
Charlie B. – ACT (online trumpet lessons)
“Whilst we are disappointed that you are leaving Sydney, Martin and I can totally understand the need for a change of lifestyle and we wish you all the best! Needless to say, Damon is devastated that you are moving away and therefore not able to teach him next year. We always knew he liked and respected you as a teacher but were quite unprepared for the outpouring of grief he displayed when told the news. Where the heck are we going to find another Adrian!!!!
We thank you for your kind words about Damon and I know he would like to keep building on the fantastic skills you have helped him develop over the last 2 years.
Thanks for everything Adrian – I will speak to you in person before the end of the year!”
Sam D. – NSW (face-to-face trombone lessons)
“Hi Adrian, I'm very sorry you won't be around to tutor Lachlan next year. He has done so well with you and you have been one of the best tutors that my children have had. I have really admired your efficiency and dedication to your students.
Good luck with the move, I hope it all goes well. Thanks again for the wonderful work you have done with Lachlan.”
Clayton N. – NSW (face-to-face trumpet lessons)
“Noooooooooo! Georgia will be devastated.... Brisbane is a big move! Hopefully the replacement is as wonderful as you are :)
Thank you for the amazing feedback!! That is wonderful to hear :) I'm sure quite a lot of her progress is because she has a great teacher - it really makes a difference! I know we still have a term left but thanks again for giving her the best start possible. You will have no troubles finding a job!!”
Christa F. – NSW (face-to-face trumpet lessons)
“I said it last year when we thought you were leaving, and I will say it again - it is a shame, as Patrick has progressed so much with you, and he says you are the best teacher he has had.
Feel free to use us as a reference if you need - we have loved your professionalism and flexibility. Thank you!”
