Music Theory Lessons
I'll divide the lesson into a mixture of written and aural theory.
With written theory we'll talk with each other about what you wish to improve, and then I shall explain a concept to you - followed by some exercises for the class and to take home, to make sure the concept really sinks in.
With aural theory we'll work with different live instruments (such as guitar, piano, synths etc.) so we can practice intervals (harmonic and melodic) in different tones to really expand your listening skills: then I'll give you some take home resources so you can keep practicing even if you don't have any instruments at home.

Teaches: Males aged 6 to 60
Females aged 8 to 55
I have been playing drums for over 15 years now; for 6 of those years I have been touring with multiple international bands whist teaching drums both online and in person. I completed a BA (Music Industry) in which teaching was one of our key learning outcomes.
I’m a very patient teacher, and one of my proudest skills is that I’m able to figure out the rate at which a student can be comfortably pushed to increase their playing ability at a healthy rate. I like to start off by focusing on your technique as this is the foundation which - if perfected early on - will strengthen the rest of your playing. After this I will teach you rudiments which will start to make you think about different ways to create fills, whilst also increasing your speed, flexibility and balance around the kit. These are important lessons to have, whether you're a beginner or if you've been playing for years. After this I will work with my students to figure out what their reasons for playing are and help them to achieve their individual goals.
Testimonials:
Geri – “Sam is a great teacher! He is really patient and helped me feel comfortable when I was nervous, being a beginner. I felt completely at ease as he was understanding and explained things (that I didn't understand) in different ways. He was very encouraging, and I can see that from only doing a few lessons I have improved my technique and my confidence. He provides fantastic material for practising alone between classes. This has helped me to have some structure when I practise and has helped me to master different techniques. I think the best thing about learning from Sam is that he is upbeat, personable and friendly, which is hard to find in a teacher! Good value for good quality lessons”
Peifun – “Sam is friendly, gentle and great with kids”
Randi – “Sam is a great teacher! Well organised, skilled and friendly personality, just the encouragement we needed for our son for drums!”
