Euphonium Lessons
Happy to tailor lessons to your specific interests with regards to genre, repertoire, exams, upcoming performances, etc.
Lessons will start with a warmup followed by repertoire work interspersed with technical exercises. This ensures a good balance between different aspects of musicality. Emphasis placed on good technique and stylistic interpretation.

I am a classically-trained tuba player and am experienced in performing not only in solo contexts, but also in chamber and large ensemble settings. My knowledge of repertoire extends from classic, mainstream works to more experimental, contemporary compositions across several genres and performance contexts.
I have performed extensively with brass bands (on both Eb and BBb basses), wind bands and orchestras playing not only on the concert stage, but also at contests and competitions. My chamber music portfolio includes involvement in brass quintets and other mixed instrument ensembles.
Apart from classical styles, I am trained in Klezmer (Eastern European Jewish wedding music) and have experience playing Choro (a genre of Brazilian music). I am happy to tutor in either of these styles or advise and provide guidance on what you are interested in learning to play.
I am confident in teaching auxiliary instruments (sousaphone, helicon, etc.), other low brass instruments (euphonium, baritone, etc.) and can offer Skype lessons or travel to you. I am also able to coach ensembles (preferably brass/wind related) and also provide music theory lessons.
With regards to Gamelan, I am a practitioner of the Central Javanese and Sundanese styles. Not only is this an area of performance, but my academic interests also lie in the music of Indonesia (and Southeast Asia more broadly). Apart from the court style genres of Karawitan (Central Java) and Gamelan Degung (West Java), I also have experience in performing regional genres such as Dangdut, Langgam (Central Java), Gamelan Salendro (West Java) and new compositions (both). Due to the wide and varied nature of Gamelan, please get in touch so that I can cater for what you are looking for.
For Music Theory lessons, I draw on my varied experiences of ethnomusicology, musicology, transcription and analysis from several different genres of music to offer purpose-built tuition based on your interests.
Do please get in touch – I look forward to hearing from you! :)
