About

  • Teaching since October 1999

  • Teaches students aged 9+

I have been teaching guitar and performing music live for twenty eight years, making it my full-time profession for the last two decades. I have taught guitar, led ensembles and run workshops at some of WAs most prestigious private schools and universities as well as performed at countless festivals and venues all over the country.

Throughout this time I have taught countless private students, including pupils which have gone on to become highly regarded musicians and tutors in their own right. I am proficient in styles from contemporary to jazz, blues to rock, Latin to metal, Gypsy jazz to funk and most everything inbetween.

Lessons are tailored to meet the students individual preferences, goals and level of experience - from total beginner to advanced shredder. Ultimately my goal is to arm the student with three things -

* Technical freedom on the instrument.
* A comprehensive knowledge of the nuts and bolts of music specifically applicable to guitar.
* Improvisational and compositional tools and understanding.

With consistent development of these three pillars the student will ultimately become self-sufficient and not only have the ability to play any song or piece of music they enjoy (often after just a couple listens or read-throughs), but also improvise, compose and create their own music in any style or genre!
