Piano Lessons
From the very first lessons, you'll be playing the piano with both hands, improvising and composing (ALL my students create their own music, you will be too). In just a few months, you'll master about a dozen impressive pieces—spanning contemporary, classical, pop and blues genres. Also, if you love signing, we'll delve deeper into accompaniments (sing-alongs), and I will also help you with singing (no extra cost or time).
I've taught hundreds of students, including even piano teachers, I had students starting with zero experience and in just one year producing and releasing their own singles, so you will be in good hands.
Learning to play the piano with me mirrors the way we acquire our first language as I use a playing based approach. Similar to a child having ample time to practice speaking before delving into reading and writing. I'll be your teacher (your guide) for just one lesson per week (that's all you need!), where I'll assess your progress and introduce new material for your development.
The lessons take place online, allowing you to learn comfortably from your own home. At the conclusion, I'll create a brief recording of our recent lesson, which will be sent to you afterwards. After the initial 4-5 lessons, you'll gain access to the PlayJoy Piano Library. This library houses videos covering essential theory and practice exercises corresponding to your lessons. Trust me; having all this information is truly fantastic! Another great news is that at least half of what we learn will be your own choice.
What you need to do is:
- Practice 15-20 mins six days a week, using lesson content and library resources (one day off).
- Attend weekly lessons, focus and, most importantly, enjoy!
Immediate results are evident after a few lessons, persisting throughout your journey

Hi! I'm Katerina Levchenko and I'm a piano teacher!
I won't burden you with an extensive biography. The key takeaway is that I'm a positive, cheerful individual with a deep passion for music. Teaching the piano brings me immense joy (and I've been teaching for the last decade at least), and I love sharing that musical love and enthusiasm with others. I've undergone years of classical training and teaching experience (having taught hundreds of students, icluding piano teachers), blending traditional and play-based methods. However, what truly matters to me is YOU.
My primary goal for you is to start playing the piano—both hands—from the very beginning, relishing in that wonderful experience. Let's make playing the piano your joy! =)
I had a big thriving Piano Studio in Auckland, nowadays I'm mostly teaching online. My teaching embraces a playing-based approach. The primary emphasis is on nurturing the ability to play, to improvise (create spontaneously) and compose (ALL my students create their own music), to recognise patterns in music, which besides helping you with swift and lasting memorisation of well-known pieces, leads to a deep understanding and feel for music.
The key deviation from traditional programmes lies in postponing reading music, prioritising the establishment of playing abilities. This allows my students to become acquainted with the piano, learning how to 'speak' musically before delving into 'reading and spelling' (notation). The outcome is students playing captivating contemporary, blues, and classical pieces right from their initial lessons! =)
