Hello, I'm a professional musician who has been playing, composing and teaching for decades. I love music, it is my life - and my children are now continuing with this wonderful part of life.
In teaching I like to find out where the student is, and what they (and, if young, their parents) want from their lessons. My aspiration is to bring to the student the absolute joy of making beautiful sounds in the world, and hope to give them something to take out into their lives as a rewarding hobby or as a career.
I work with a number of tutoring books so we can methodically learn each element of making sound, playing melody, reading pitch and rhythm, and finding the music that fits the student.
My life in music has included composing for symphony orchestras, film, theatre, et al.
I've played in a tango band, rock and folk bands, classical ensembles and, at the moment, in a world music group playing Eastern European folk, klezmer, and original tunes (our third record is coming out in 2024)
I have a Phd, a Doctor of Philosophy (Music) from the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide.
Thanks for reading my bio - please feel welcome to catch up with me if you want to have a chat any time.
