Violin Lessons

Levels Taught: Beginner

The Violin - Students will need to buy a specific music book, determined by their skill level, from their nearest music shop. I will also have a copy of this book and we will go through it together, progressively increasing in difficulty as we go. Various scales will also be taught, along with suggested revision methods to help with getting started and learning the notes. I found that learning both notes, finger numbers and positions with your left hand while also learning bow holds and bowing styles was very difficult, so they my start off not using their bows. I look at my past experiences and use this to direct my teaching to ensure students are taught in the easiest more enjoyable way possible, as the Violin is a particularly tricky instrument to learn.

I am an open-minded and enthusiastic person who loves learning new things and sharing the things I have learnt.

I've been playing the Violin for 9 years, since I was 7, and have been taught by many talented musicians and been in many ensembles. In primary school I was a part of FCIP, Franciscan Colleges Instrumental Music Program. Currently, I am in a Symphony ensemble including all strings (Violins, Violas, Cellos, Double Basses, etc) and also woodwind and percussion instruments (I played the Clarinet for one year). Along with Symphony, I am in Sinfonia: an all strings ensemble. I am also a part of an Orchestra playing in the musical, Cinderella, which my school is performing. I've acted as both a Concert Master and Section Leader many times, helping my conductors and fellow musicians where I can. Additionally, I have participated in SHEP - the State Honours Ensemble Music Program. Over 4 days, I worked with many students from different schools and a very talented conductor to learn and perform many pieces. All these experiences helped me further enhance my skills and my confidence as a violinist.

I previously volunteered to work with the Smith Family in the Student2Student reading program, where I helped many children improve their reading abilities. This helped me gain experience with working with children and helping them learn in fun ways.
