Alto Saxophone Lessons
I am the ideal teacher for someone of any age who is a complete beginner to the saxophone.
We can discuss theory if it is of interest or we can solely work on playing by ear, just using the note names as guides.
I will cater each lesson to what your short term goals are.
I believe in working on short, manageable tasks and working up from there.
I also believe in repetition, and having a solid grasp on the sound of the notes, instead of reading music.
I prefer not to overcomplicate theory for novice players, so intimidating music theory will be kept to a minimum.
Lessons will be informal, so if you are preparing for an AMEB exam, I may not cover the pertinent topics
Emphasis will be placed on embouchure, blowing techniques, tone, and improvisation through the most commonly used scale.
