Piano Lessons
Piano is one of the most versatile musical instruments and I ensure that my students have an enjoyable, creative and holistic learning experience. Whether it is purely for pleasure or you wish to study for exams or perform, each lesson will inspire you! I work with AMEB (Piano Series, Piano for Leisure and Contemporary Popular Music), Trinity College of Music and ABRSM syllabuses for exam preparation and also a variety of other classical, pop and jazz music, depending on students' preferences. I also include aural training, sight-reading, effective practicing and development of musicianship within the lessons. My home studio has a beautiful, antique, baby grand piano and my expertise in music education uses the best practice pedagogy.

Background
Being involved in music for over 30 years, I am an accomplished classical and contemporary pianist, accompanist, musical director and teacher, having studied at Elder Conservatorium of Music for a B. Mus (Performance) and at the Trinity College of Music in London. In 2009, I completed a Master of Arts in Music and Creative Industries at QUT. I was awarded my PhD in music education from Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University (2017).
I bring to students a holistic learning experience, development of their creative abilities and a love of music that can help them build a lifetime of involvement in music. My PhD research in music education and creativity means that I am a specialist in children's musical creativity and have a broad experience of different teaching pedagogies (this helps in finding the appropriate teaching style to suit each individual student).
Lesson Styles
I am the director of a music studio, teaching piano and music theory for students of all ages, with a specialty for intermediate to advanced and diploma level. Whether it is purely for pleasure or you wish to study for exams or perform, each lesson will inspire you! I work with AMEB (Piano Series, Piano for Leisure and Contemporary Popular Music), Trinity College of Music and ABRSM syllabuses for exam preparation and also a variety of other classical, pop and jazz music, for an enjoyable, creative and holistic learning experience. I also include aural training, sight-reading, effective practicing and musicianship training within the lessons. For some students I will offer HSC exam support for Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension so you feel confident and achieve the best result. Each student has a different musical path and goals, so I tailor the lessons to suit you.
Online Expertise
Online lessons are flexible and fun and with the ever-growing list of technological advances in this area, they are very easy to do! I have taught lessons online for the past 3 years and have developed a lot of expertise in this medium. So many students love learning from the comfort of their own home and playing on their own piano (sometimes in their pjs!)
Different online platforms provide for screen sharing, multiple camera views, enhanced sound, online access to videos, sight-reading apps, annotations of scores, recordings and music theory games. Students have a closeup view of my keyboard which enables them to see fingering and technique.
