My teaching style has successfully brought the gift of music to many students.

Piano Lessons

Levels Taught: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

My piano lessons are designed to both help you achieve your goals and to be fun.

I can teach a wide variety of styles of piano playing, and also teach how to sing and play at the same time.

I am very clear in my teaching method and always check the student's understanding at each step in the learning process before moving forward to the next step.

If a student has a particular issue they wish to work on, then that can always be looked during the lesson.

I am strong at developing a good technique for students and also helping them with practice techniques for maximum results.

I am available to teach both in person and online.

I have been motivating and encouraging students to develop their skills and joy for music for over 35 years. I achieved the classical AMEB qualification of A. Mus. A. (while completing an Engineering Degree) then began developing my musical skills in the modern, pop, lyrical and jazz genres.

I chose a professional career in music over engineering, leaving my home state of Victoria, headed to Western Australia where I formed a hybrid original / covers band that I both managed and performed with, and travelled over most of Australia over a two-year period.

Arriving back in Melbourne, Victoria, I began a life of teaching, performing and writing music. I have had my music played on both TV and radio in Melbourne in genres as wide as relaxation music to Jazz-rock fusion.

I also owned/managed a Music School in Melbourne for 13 years with over 250 students and offering a wide range of musical education.

As well, I was the resident pianist at the prestigious Kooyong Lawn tennis Club for many years, plus played many jazz duos, trios, quartets and rock/pop band gigs.

Arriving on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland I completed a Graduate Diploma of Education, and recommenced teaching piano (plus drums and vocal tuition).

I also joined a touring tribute show where I was commissioned to write 35 original string quartet arrangements which were performed along with principal players from both the Sydney and Brisbane Symphony Orchestras at many theatres on the East Coast of Australia and South Australia including the Sydney State Theatre.

I believe that students need to have fun with their music, be motivated and develop great practice habits to improve their piano or keyboard playing (or any other musical skills). I am keen to develop a wide skill-base in students’ piano playing to allow them flexibility in their later musical pursuits.

I can also help musicians develop their skills to sing and play piano (Can also teach vocals!).
