After graduating from university, my career as a Specialist Music Teacher at a primary school in South Africa started. and after two years of teaching, was seconded by Western Cape Education Department to the position of HOD Performing Arts at a High School in Worcester. My responsibilities included managing, Music, Fine Art, Ballet and Drama Departments. After 7 years of teaching, I was seconded to Söhnge College of Education, as Lecturer of Education and was responsible for the drafting and development of Teacher Training and Music Business courses. In 1996, I was invited as Visiting Lecturer to the University of Pretoria, and prepared lectures and discussions for B.Mus. (Honors) students. In 2003, My appointed as National Examiner (Music History) for FET (Further Education and Training), which was followed by my relocating to New Zealand as appointed HOD Music in 2004. In 2012 followed by signing a publication contract with Cambridge University Press to become the author of Music for New Zealand Years 9 and 10, a student textbook. The textbook project was completed in October 2012 and working on substantial orchestral compositions became the next project.
Since 2013. we started to develop and refined the Semitonis Online teaching and learning brand currently in operation. The brand Semitonis Online produced in collaboration with Stebbing Studios, Auckland produced my first Classical Piano Solo album while working on substantial musical composition. I recently completed an original Musical ‘Pepe’ based on a Samoan village Novello by author, Albert Wendt. ‘Pepe’ the musical will be premiered in partnership with ZulRac Productions, our recently established film and video company, and hopefully, also tour New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Our podcast 'The Dr Mario Show' has successfully attracted worldwide interest which started in 2020, and amidst the Covid pandemic. Semitonis Online Limited is established and fully registered as an incorporated company in both Australia and New Zealand.
