Cello Lessons

Levels Taught: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

I offer 30, 45 and 60-minute cello lessons. I work with methods from various books and ask students what their aims are for the term or year. Some students wish to sit for exams, while others prefer to learn without focusing on exam pieces and exam technical work. Lessons are structured around what students wish to achieve.

I have been teaching cello since 1988 in schools and at home. Since moving from Melbourne to Brisbane in 2003, I have worked at private schools and have set up a home based studio. I teach mainly classical music and also perform in two orchestras. Having attended a number of teaching workshops over the years has allowed me to learn about new teaching methods and implement some of these during the lesson time. I aim to make lessons fun while at the same time providing a secure grounding in cello technique.

Nicole is a pleasant teacher to study under. She is very clear, methodical and makes the student feel very at ease from the very beginning to the end of the lesson. Most importantly, her lessons are not only instructive but are also fun and inspire the student to improve. I cannot recommend her too highly to any novice who, like me, is just taking their first steps into the wonderful world of the cello.
