Alto Saxophone Lessons
Students learning Alto Saxophone from me can choose to learn a jazz style of playing, or in a more traditional classical style of playing - including AMEB exams and band music. I am happy to teach 30 minute, 45 minute or 60 minute lessons. Having gone through the AMEB exam system to the highest level, I am confident in teaching students from beginners up to grade 6 or 7, and I can offer helpful advice on how to succeed in your AMEB exams. As a student currently undertaking a bachelor of jazz performance at the Conservatorium of Music, I feel as though I can really help kids learn how to improvise in a jazz setting.

I am a musician who is passionate about spreading a love and joy in playing and making music. Music has been an integral part of my own school and life journey and I would love to encourage young musicians to go down this same path. I believe music should be a part of every kids childhood, and I really want to make sure that everyone I teach comes away with not just the ability to play music, but a love and real joy of playing and making music. After all, playing an instrument should be fun.
I am a current 1st year Conservatorium of Music student studying jazz performance on saxophone. I am predominantly a saxophonist (Tenor, Alto, Soprano), but I also play bassoon and clarinet, recently attaining my grade 5 clarinet exam. I went to Barker College, and there I played in many bands and orchestras. Over the years I have studied both Jazz and classical saxophone, being awarded my A-mus in classical saxophone in Year 11. Although I am experienced in classical music, my main passion is Jazz music, and I would be happy to teach any young students improvisational skills and how to play big band music.
My approach to lessons is a balance of both learning and fun. I am happy to work through AMEB music, Band music or any resource the student is learning in order to help improve their music skills. As well as this, I am also happy to work on any music the students want to play, as it is important students play music that they individually want to learn and are passionate about, as this is what fosters a lifelong love of music and makes students want to keep playing even after their lessons might be finished.
