Clarinet Lessons
I deliver practical, tailored, and engaging clarinet instruction to students from all walks of life.
I will do my absolute best to see you progress steadily and enjoyably! You can expect careful preparation, personalised lesson content, full effort and concentration from me in every lesson.
When you learn online with me, you will enjoy a smooth and convenient digital-learning experience. I use high-end streaming software, cameras, and microphones to deliver good-looking and good-sounding clarinet lessons. I carefully use screen-sharing and music-notation software to explain music theory, and can direct students to my own YouTube videos for reference demos of specific technical topics.

Hello! Thank you for reading my profile.
My name is Liam. I am an exclusively online clarinet teacher from Australia.
I've held contract positions with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Cemal Resit Rey Symphony Orchestra (Istanbul). I have held full-time playing positions in the Antalya State Opera and Ballet Orchestra and the Antalya State Symphony Orchestra. I was also the Principal Eb Clarinettist of the Royal Australian Air Force Band (2014-2021).
As a studio musician, I have recorded for the animators of Rick and Morty, the ABC Centre (5x5x5 Project) and with many small groups, most notably, Isolation Chamber.
My teaching approach is built on four commitments:
1) Help students create their own, sustainable, daily practice habit. Every student's life and commitments are different, but negotiating a sustainable practice routine is the key to continuous improvement.
2) Help students find joy in technically mastering their instrument. Being able to command the instrument is exhilarating. It's worth the effort, trust me!
3) Help students find the motivation to play the clarinet. Not all students wish to undertake examinations. Without extrinsic motivation like that, all students need guidance in making their intrinsic motivation to play the clarinet. I help students design motivating musical goals and projects. Home recordings? Church performances? Any goal is better than none!
4) Help students feel proud of their playing. The clarinet is difficult. I teach clarinet with unfailing encouragement and positivity.
Don't hesitate to send me a message!
Liam
