To see a student enjoy expressing their musical skills is something I’ve always got a buzz from and always wish to take that skill base further.
I have CPM level 3 with honours & AMEB level 2 in percussion (Keyboard, Drum kit & Snare Drum).

I believe that music note reading is important not from a theory standpoint but more so in terms of it being a useful visual aid in learning how to play your instrument.

But there are other methods too, namely; listening, peer observational, self responsive kinetic & other interactive methods.

Virtually all of my students have reached what I call THEIR version of success which denotes what ‘success’ means to them.
- But to give an indication; my students have won a dozen eisteddfods, nearly all received credit or distinctions in AMEB examinations or been ‘instrumental’ (excuse the pun) in steering a band to success as a drummer, keyboard player or general percussionist.
