Emily is a multi-instrumentalist and composer. Her areas of specialisation include Classical Cello, Contemporary Voice, Guitar, Piano, Music Theory and Songwriting.
Emily began her musical training from a very young age as a Cellist. She studied both Suzuki and AMEB methods and developed strong aural skills and the capacity to memorise large volumes of music. She was also very interested in the mechanics of music and spent much of her time learning Music Theory from any book she could find; to enhance her understanding of things she could hear and feel. Emily pursued other instruments as they gravitated to her. Her lifelong love of Guitar (particularly the texture of a steel string) and the purity of a Voice, were particularly appealing. With a few skills to tie things together, Emily started to experiment with songwriting and recording as a creative outlet. Emily was also encouraged to pursue Jazz Music by her singing teacher and mentor Ainslie Wills. She loved the improvisational element and the beautiful harmony layered through Jazz Standards. She is now currently completing her Bachelor of Music (Jazz and Improvisation, Voice) at the VCA, Melbourne University. In 2017 she was the recipient of the Future Leaders' Jazz Award in Voice and has received various other musical scholarships as recognition of her work as an instrumentalist. Emily is a prolific songwriter and performing musician. She also has experiencing teaching music to children with special needs. Emily has played in various musical groups including Prickle, her improvisation quartet, the Katarzyna Wiktorski Octet and as a sessional musician. Currently she is working on material for her own solo project and a theatre show with storyteller Charlotte Jowett for this year's Fringe Festival.
Emily has taught music at various private music schools around Melbourne for the past three years.
At the moment she is teaching from her private home studio in Camberwell.
