Violin Lessons

Levels Taught: Beginner, Intermediate

At my private violin studio, I welcome all students of any age or ability. I tailor my lessons to suit each individual student, whether they are preparing for an exam, just beginning their instrument or simply playing for fun.
I have also had considerable experience preparing students for AMEB examinations.
At my studio, I care about each of my students, and try to understand who they each are as individuals in order to more effectively instruct them. I also want my students to love what they are doing because, in the end, that is the most important part of being a musician.

For as long also can remember, I have loved playing music and sharing this with others. Throughout my schooling career, I played the violin and piano, before pursuing violin performance with a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Under the tutelage of Alan Smith, Associate Concertmaster of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, my love of playing, and of music study generally, grew, as I participated in many orchestral projects with the Queensland Conservatorium Orchestra, the Queensland Youth Symphony and the Australian Youth Orchestra. In 2015, I was also awarded my AmusA diploma in violin performance. Last year (2017), I graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium with a Bachelor of Music with distinction, and this year, I have been undertaking Honours at the same institution. The focus of my research this year has been on investigating strategies for helping beginner violin students improve their intonation and has involved me closely observing the teaching strategies of some of Brisbane’s best violin pedagogues.

Since my second year at university, which was two and a half years ago, I have discovered my love of teaching music, which has become my main passion in life. Currently I have a growing private teaching studio in Mansfield. I am also currently employed by The Music Generation, which is a mobile music school based in Melbourne. Also having a liaison with southern district schools in Brisbane, I have assisted and taught at numerous beginner and junior strings camps in metropolitan Brisbane.
