Composition Lessons
My composition tuition incorporates creativity development, the development and understanding of compositional technique, ranging from the most mot basic to advanced. I've undertaken education training, and so include strategies inspired by the Orff method, improvisation etc. I can work with students interested in taking AMEB exams and have taught extensively high school students preparing for their HSC composition. I also see composition as a development in imagination, critical thinking and creativity more broadly.

I am primarily active as a freelance composer and percussionist living and working in and around Sydney. I am a trained percussionist and composer, with a PhD in composition and music theory from the University of Sydney. I have taught at the Sydney Conservatorium for 15 years in the composition department, and have taught composition and percussion at various high schools and universities in and around Sydney as well as privately.
My percussion lessons would incorporate physical and musical warm-ups, basic drums and keyboard percussion technique, composition elements and improvisation in addition to work on repertoire . My composition tuition incorporates music theory, a knowledge and awareness of AMEB, HSC and university requirements and exercises in creativity and compositional technique development.
