Practical violin lessons taught in the traditional manner. Students at the entry level are taught to read music and play the instrument at the same time. Advanced students are taught similarly, with the focus being upon the appropriate repertoire for the level studied. Musicianship skills are taught as required. Students are encouraged to sit exams although this is not a requirement.Show More Show Less

Teaching from my home-studio in Boronia, I provide expert and inspirational tuition to students of violin, viola, music theory and music history. I was myself educated in Melbourne by an exponent of the Russian method of instrumental string pedagogy and I was admitted to the degree of Bachelor of Music, with majors in Performance, Musicology and Ethnomusicology.
I have taught my craft to students of every conceivable age group and from many diverse cultures. My ability to engage and inspire students is vast, whether beginners, intermediate or advanced. I have worked extensively with other musicians and teachers of note from around the world and I have held positions of leadership in orchestras and ensembles, performing live and in the recording studio, to standards of internationally recognised excellence.
As a devoted instructor, I understand that which is required to assist in the development of serious music students. My methods are flexible enough to manage the dynamic trends of contemporary music scholarship and performance. I have many years experience working within the guidlines of the various examination bodies and therefore I can provide information and assistance to students (and parents) with regard to graded examinations.
