Teaches students aged 5+
I have been teaching piano and theory for almost 17 years. My experience includes teaching students of all ages from beginners to Grade 8 piano and Grade 5 theory. I have ATCL in piano, BMus(Hons) in composition and Grad. Dip. in Arts (subjects included psychology, education and ethnomusicology) from the University of Auckland, NZ.
I have a Master of Music Therapy degree from the NZ School of Music and I worked as a Registered Music Therapist in Auckland for 5 years. I have also facilitated music sessions for the elderly at some aged care centres in Brisbane. While music therapy employs different approaches to that of education, my experience working with children and young adults with special needs has had positive impact on how I interact with young students. I am also a mother of two boys, aged 6 and 1.
I am also happy to teach those who would like to learn piano for leisure, play chords and sing. I have experience singing in choirs including NZ Youth Choir, church choir and youth worship band.
