Monica Haworth Voice & Piano Tuition is a private music studio in Arana Hills, Queensland (north-west Brisbane).
Monica teaches one-on-one lessons in contemporary voice, beginner piano and music theory. She specialises in teaching beginner singers, and can also help you prepare for auditions and performances. Lessons are held in a friendly, relaxed environment at her air-conditioned home studio.
PARTIAL TO JAZZ, COFFEE, CATS AND SUNSHINE
Monica has been training and performing in the arts for twenty-five years, having studied dance, drama, singing and music in one way or another since the age of four. Eventually she realised her dreams of dancing Coppelia on the ballet stages of the world were unlikely to come true, and she turned her attention to acting and singing. She excelled in drama classes at school and commenced voice training at age 16. She enjoyed studying many genres and disciplines throughout her schooling years and beyond and found a particular passion for jazz, cabaret and musical theatre. Having studied classical piano as a child, she recently returned to lessons and is currently preparing to take her AMEB Grade 5 classical exam.
Monica has enjoyed performing at venues including The Brisbane Jazz Club, MetroArts, The Schonell Theatre, and the Concert Hall at Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
Monica holds a Bachelor of Creative Industries in Drama and Creative Industries Management from Queensland University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music from Southern Cross University majoring in Voice Performance and Music Education. In January 2019 she completed voice pedagogy training in Levels I, II and III of Somatic Voicework (TM) The LoVetri Method at Artsworx, University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba. In 2020 she is returning to QUT to commence a part time Master of Teaching (Secondary) to become a qualified high school music and drama teacher.
Monica has taught dance and movement to preschool age children, primary after-school drama classes, and private and group singing to dance students. She adores the arts in all its forms and couldn't imagine doing anything else with her life.
