I like to use the Alfred's series because every book comes with backing tracks and useful instructions and information that can help a student gradually gain independence. I use the audio in all my lessons using apps to speed up or slow down the tracks. I also may record students playing to encourage them to hear selectively so that they can become their own best teacher. We have a lot of fun learning and I often supplement lessons using Youtube videos and other online resources. Of course more advanced students may not require a tutoring book. For them we would use more online resources.Show More Show Less

Hi all, let me introduce myself. I have been singing and playing music; piano; electric and double bass, for as long as I can remember. I was involved in performance through music theatre/dancing school as a young child. I took piano lessons as a teen then joined bands, toured the world, and had a ball with my music for many years until finally settling down when my children started arriving. Since then, well over 35 years now, I have been teaching.
I have a thriving private music studio in Kippa Ring where I teach children piano from as young as 4 using Music for Little Mozarts. I also teach young people through to older retired men and women (everyone).
I love sharing music with any age. I like to use the Alfred's Piano curriculum for older children and adults.
For singing students I use an eclectic mix of materials and love helping aspiring singers find their voice.
I recently (2013) completed a post graduate Diploma of Vocal Pedagogy in contemporary voice at Griffith University. I am also working with Redcliffe Music Theatre group as their under 10's singing mentor.
My students are often successful in auditioning for parts in Musical Theatre productions. I also help students through their piano exams using ANZCA and/or AMEB. I am a current blue card holder.
