Singing is good for the soul! Introducing your teacher Rachelle, a professional entertainer who has performed on many stages around the world including in Sydney, London, Wales, Ireland, Singapore and on Cruise Ships in America and Europe.
Singing for therapy is Rachelle’s way of sharing the joy singing and performing has given her back to the community. Rachelle is the perfect teacher to learn to “sing for therapy”. Not only is she highly experienced in professional singing and performing, she holds both a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Journalism and a Graduate Diploma in Education majoring in Early Childhood meaning she is a qualified Early Childhood and Primary School Teacher.
Testimonial: Zoe Cunningham, Brisbane Regional Manager, Mental Illness Fellowship Queensland
Rachelle volunteered as Singing Therapist at MifQ’s hub at Bowen Hills in August, September and October 2016. Her weekly 1.5 hour sessions were well received and I found her to be reliable, organised, focused, dedicated and enthusiastic.
She taught a wide range of songs and quickly built a strong rapport with participants. As the participants’ confidence grew, she worked yoga, poetry and song writing into the sessions.
The warm up vocals were fun and interesting and her technique was refreshing and flexible. The song choices were catered to the participants vocal range, ability and preferences. Sessions were kept interesting with all styles of music covered, from Pop to Country, Jazz to Rock.
We look forward to Rachelle returning to host more workshops in 2017 at MifQ.
