Learning the cello can be a tricky business. With over five years of teaching experience, Hannah is well-acquainted with the difficulties of picking up an instrument. Of far more importance, however, with over a decade of experience playing cello, she can tell you far more clearly why it’s all worth it. This passion for music is what Hannah aims to share with her students.
An active musician in the Brisbane area, Hannah has performed in venues from the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam to the Triple JJJ recording studio. She has performed as principal cellist of the Queensland Youth Symphony and the UQ Symphony Orchestra, and has recently toured internationally with the Australian Youth Orchestra.
Her passion for chamber music led to the formation of the Meraki string quartet in late 2015, and the group now performs regularly around Brisbane. The past two years have seen them perform in masterclasses with the renowned Jerusalem String Quartet, the Orava Quartet, and James Wannan of the Australia Piano Quartet. They have premiered works by many new composers, including David Brodsky’s award winning composition 'Introspection'.
Having recently completed a Bachelor of Music (Hons) majoring in performance, Hannah is now aiming to undertake a PhD in early music education.
