The flute is my main instrument and as a performing artist I have the experience to equip you with the skills you need for your AMEB exam, orchestra, band, or just for your own enjoyment! I can teach from beginner levels up until more advanced exams. Whilst I'm very invested in my student's lessons and very passionate about helping them succeed, I will never push a student beyond what they are capable of! I aim to help you reach your full potential without stress.
Show More Show LessAs you get more skilled at your instrument, it becomes incredibly important to stay up to date on your music theory! I can help you with theory/musicianship exams, or just give you the knowledge you need to understand the pieces you're working on through the parameters of harmony. I teach up to Grade 5 AMEB level.

Lovely to meet you! I'm a student at the University of Queensland, finishing my Bachelor of Music(hons) in Flute this year. I have been teaching music since 2016 and I encourage my students to enjoy music and have fun. I also like to challenge them with interesting music so that they can see themselves progressing. I'm happy to help with students learning for leisure and also those who are after AMEB exams.
My approach in flute playing/teaching is guided by the approach of my own teacher, Patrick Nolan, whose methods of pedagogy have seen incredible results. In lessons, we'll cover all the fundamentals of playing, as well as musical expressiveness and the ability to create wonderful sounds! I must note, however, that I expect my students to have a good attitude in lessons, to listen well, and do their best to try my instructions.
To get to know a little more about me, I am a 2020 Freedman Fellowship Nominee, the 2019 winner of the James Carson Memorial Prize, and have performed in the Brisbane Music Festival and with the Southern Cross Soloists.
I've taught students aged 5 to retirement, so any age/demographic is fine with me!
